Discipline Development
The School of Electronics consists of four research institutes of Physical Electronics, Quantum Electronics, Applied Electronics, and Information and Communication, supporting two undergraduate majors of "Electronic Information Science and Technology" and "Electronic Information Engineering", two primary disciplines of "Electronic Science and Technology" and "Information and Communication Engineering", and six sub-disciplines of "Physical Electronics", "Circuits and Systems", "Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology", "Quantum Electronics", "Communication and Information System", and "Signal and Information Processing". Among them, "Electronic Information Science and Technology" was selected as one of the characteristic majors of higher education institutions by the Ministry of Education, and "Electronic Science and Technology" was recognized in the first batch of "World-class University and First-class Discipline Construction" disciplines by the Ministry of Education. In the fifth round of national discipline evaluation, both "Electronic Science and Technology" and "Information and Communication Engineering" achieved excellent results and advanced to the next level.
At the same time, the School of Electronics also undertakes the construction of several national level or provincial level teaching and research platforms, such as " State Key Laboratory of Photonics and Communications", "MOE Key Laboratory for the Physics and Chemistry of Nanodevices", "Beijing Key Laboratory of Quantum Sensing and Precision Measurement", "SAPPRFT Engineering Technology Research Center for Broadband Coaxial Network". In 2019, the Research Center for Carbon-based Electronics was established as a research institution in Peking University, affiliated with the School of Electronics.
